The Calm`ecac Collective, Or The Path to Revolutionary Scholarship

This collaboration grows out of the community-building work that Qwo-Li Driskill began and continues with the students that they mentor and work with. The Calmecac Collective, or CC, is a group of “atrevsadxs” from various backgrounds who come together around Anzaldua’s work and legacy to build on and continue the work she made possible through the creation of the Mundo Zurdo as a (rhetorical) space dedicated to the transformation of self and society. In this piece, we work through the ruptures brought on by the 2016 election, academia’s toxicity and other ruptures of grief/loss, racism, ableism, and sexism to find paths for healing.
